This is a classic Pauillac bursting with dark fruits and a great deal of spice. A gorgeous ripe nose leads to plum and velvety dark fruits with spicy undertones.
When we started buying in Pauillac many years ago, there were approximately 14 small independent estates. Today there are just four. The larger Grand Cru Classé estates have subsumed the others, but they still share the same fantastic soil. The 11 hectare Château Gaudin estate was inherited to Madame Linette Capdevielle from her grandfather. The vines are around 40 years old, and traditional winemaking practices are used, including a gentle basket press designed by Gustave Eiffel.
