Lala Salama, which means "sleep well" in Swahili, is the name chosen for all African decaffeinated coffees. This particular lot is a blend of micro-lots from Uganda and Rwanda. Expect a smooth, well-balanced profile with notes of creamy milk chocolate, bright citrusy orange, apple, and a soft toffee sweetness. This coffee is decaffeinated using the CO₂ method, a clean and gentle process developed by Kurt Zosel of the Max Planck Institute. Instead of chemical solvents, liquid carbon dioxide is used to extract caffeine while preserving the beans' unique flavour profile.
