1 - Who roasts our Beans?
We are proud to say that we roast all our own beans in Birdhill, ensuring you are always delivered the freshest beans.
2- How often are deliveries and what days do I order?
Orders are placed weekly via email, call or text on a Monday with expected delivery on a Thursday.
3 - Can you assist with a set up?
As we have opened several successful cafes over the years, we know the important details and will help you to open your café step by step. We offer assistance with choosing the right equipment and finance plan, layout and of course training. We are also available throughout your journey as the business grows to assist with small issues with occur such as an issue with a grinder or running low on coffee. We are your one-stop shop.
4 - Is training available?
When we do an install, we train all members of the team normally about 5 days prior to opening. This training will include the following:
setting your grinder correctly
importance of the extraction correctly
different types of coffee and how to texture the milk accordingly
latte art
machine maintainance and daily cleaning
5 - What is the initial investment for the kit to set up?
You could be looking at anything from €20,000 upwards for the kit. There are also options for leasing, but you will need a trading history of at least 6 months for this to be an option.
6 - What if I already have my own kit?
Depending on what equipment you have chosen we may decide to decline to work with you, as some machines are not designed to give the best grind and extraction which will affect the flavour of the beans and give a poor coffee.
Machines we are happy to work with are La Marzocco and Osteria for example.
7 - What is the minimum order quantity?
The minimum order quantity a week is 10kgs of coffee. Which means 1kg will make 50 cups of coffee. With the ideal minimum weekly sales of 500 cups.
For orders below 10kgs there is a €10 delivery fee
8 - What is the price per bag?
This depends on what bean you decided to choose a single origin will be more expensive than a blend.
9 - What size bags do you sell?
For our wholesale customers, we offer packaging for your bar in bags of 1kg, 2.5kgs and 5kgs options.
For retail, we offer beans in 250g, 500g and 1kg bags.
10 - Can I add my own label to the packaging?
You can use your own labels on our bags, we would just ask you to design and print the labels. However, we will assist you with sizing and contacts for design and printing should you require it.
11 - Where can I try your coffee?
We have 4 of our own stores located in Munster. Our flagship store is of course found in Birdhill, Tipperary. Followed by our latest addition on the Dock Road, Limerick. We then also have two more for you to experience including Guji in Limerick and Guji Paul Street Cork. If these are not near your location, we can advise you of one of our wholesale customers who may be nearer.
12 - Do you offer tastings?
We love to get people in to talk about how proud we are of our product and the best way to do that is for you to come in person and get a true experience from the aroma of the coffee being roasted, insight into what you need for your bar and by tasting which blend you want to serve on your bar.
13 - How long is the contract for?
If you decide to sign with us, we ask that you sign a two-year contract to exclusively sell only The Old Barracks.
14 - What do you need to supply me with a coffee for my new venture?
After you have come to try the beans and meet with us, we will be able to gauge what it is you are looking for. We will be able to send you a quote of prices. Once you are happy with this, we will ask you to sign an agreement along with some more formal paperwork such as bank details etc.
15 - What happens if another cafe near me decides to open?
We love to see new ventures succeed and so like you should they decide to choose us we hope that you would welcome them to your area. Like any business, our aim is to grow. For you it will allow both you and them a little competition and not only that the knowledge that in your area there are two great spots to go for coffee is a great thing.
